Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 29, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how TD Studios, LLC (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Piggy Budget mobile application (the “App”) and visit piggybudget.app (the “Site”). Piggy Budget is a personal-finance app for iPhone, and we’re committed to keeping your financial information secure and giving you control over your data.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account information
- Email address — provided when you sign up, including via Sign in with Apple.
- Apple user identifier — an anonymous identifier provided by Apple when you use Sign in with Apple.
- Display name and account emoji — optional, set by you.
- Authentication tokens — used to keep your session signed in securely.
1.2 Financial information you enter or sync
Piggy is a budgeting app, so we collect the financial information needed for the App to work:
- Income transactions — source, amount, date, category, optional notes, optional withholding fields.
- Expense transactions — merchant, amount, date, category, optional notes.
- Budget categories — categories you create or that the App creates on your behalf (such as the system “Excluded” category).
- Monthly budget targets — your monthly income and expense goals.
- Savings goals and debt-payoff plans — name, target amount, current progress, target date, type, optional notes.
- Manual bank accounts — name, type, and balance you enter yourself.
- Linked bank accounts (Plaid) — institution, account name, last four digits of the account number, balance, and transaction history. We use Plaid only if you choose to link a bank account.
- Bank balance snapshots — periodic balance values used to compute your net-worth trend over time.
- Detected subscriptions and recurring charges — patterns we infer from your expense transactions.
- Activity feed state — which insight cards you have dismissed and the thumbs-up / thumbs-down feedback you give on them. This feedback is stored locally on your device and is used to tune our detection heuristics.
1.3 Premium subscription information
- Subscription status — whether you have an active Premium subscription. This information comes from Apple’s StoreKit. We never see your payment card number, billing address, or any other payment details. All purchases are handled by Apple.
1.4 Household and partner sharing
- Household membership — which other Piggy users you have chosen to share a budget with.
- Shared transactions — transactions you have assigned to a household member. You control which transactions are shared.
1.5 Technical information
- Device and app information — iOS version, app version, and device model. Used for diagnostics.
- Crash reports and error logs — anonymous reports collected when the App crashes or hits an error, used to fix bugs.
1.6 What we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your bank login credentials. Plaid handles bank authentication directly with your financial institution.
- We do not collect your payment card numbers.
- We do not collect your Social Security Number, government ID, or biometric data.
- We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or precise location.
- We do not use the iOS Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information above to:
- Provide the App’s core features (budget tracking, goal management, transaction sync, the activity feed, the Wealth Health score).
- Compute insights such as subscription detection, price-hike alerts, budget burn-rate warnings, and your Wealth Health score. These insights are computed on your device from your data; they are not generated by sending your financial information to a third-party AI service.
- Send you transactional email when needed (account confirmations, important account changes).
- Diagnose and fix bugs in the App.
- Process Premium subscriptions through Apple.
- Comply with our legal obligations.
We do not:
- Sell your personal information.
- Show advertising in the App or use your data for advertising targeting.
- Use your financial data to train artificial-intelligence models, ours or anyone else’s.
- Share your data with data brokers.
- Use third-party trackers that profile you across the web.
3. Who We Share Information With
3.1 Service providers
We share information with the following providers, each of whom is contractually obligated to protect your data and to use it only for the purposes we specify:
- Supabase — our database and authentication provider. Your account information and financial data are stored in our Supabase project, encrypted in transit and at rest. Supabase Privacy Policy.
- Plaid — used only if you choose to link a bank account. Plaid acts as the secure bridge between your bank and Piggy. Plaid Privacy Policy.
- Apple — for Sign in with Apple, in-app purchases via StoreKit, App Store distribution, and push-notification delivery. Apple Privacy Policy.
3.2 Household members
If you share a budget with a household member, that user can see the transactions you assign to the household. You control which transactions are shared and can stop sharing at any time.
3.3 Legal requirements
We may disclose information if we are required to do so by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others.
3.4 Business transfers
If TD Studios, LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred. We will notify you before any of your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Encryption in transit — all data sent between your device, Piggy’s servers, and our service providers is encrypted using HTTPS / TLS.
- Encryption at rest — your data stored with Supabase is encrypted at rest.
- Bank credentials — Piggy never stores your bank username or password. Plaid authenticates directly with your financial institution and provides Piggy only with the data you authorize.
- Local cache — Piggy caches some of your data on your iPhone for offline use and instant launch. This local cache is stored using iOS’s secure storage and is cleared when you sign out.
- Access controls — only authorized personnel of TD Studios, LLC can access infrastructure that holds user data, and only when necessary for support or operations.
While we use industry-standard security measures, no system is completely impenetrable. If you believe you have found a security vulnerability, please email hello@piggybudget.app.
